How to find an active Clash of Clans clan

Why the in-game search will not help you
Clash of Clans lets you search by name, location, required trophies, war frequency and clan level. Every one of those keeps its value after a clan dies. A clan can sit at level 20 with 45 members, none of whom have opened the game in a month, and it will still appear above a busy clan that happens to be newer.
There is no in-game signal for "are these people still playing". You find out after you join, which costs you a clan hop and sometimes a week of waiting for a war that never starts.
What active actually means
Activity is measurable, and it comes down to four things you can check on any clan:
- Donations. How much of the roster has given troops this season, not the clan total. One generous player can carry a dead clan's total.
- War attacks used. A clan that wars every week but leaves a third of its attacks unused is not the clan its description claims.
- Members playing recently. The share of the roster whose own numbers moved in the last fortnight.
- Whether it stays full. Constant churn and a roster stuck at 30 of 50 usually mean people arrive and leave.

Finding one in about two minutes
- Open Recruiting Now, which lists clans whose leaders have said they are looking for members, or Browse Clans for everything.
- Filter to your town hall level, and to your language or country if that matters to you.
- Sort by activity score and ignore anything under 50.
- Open two or three clans and read the war record and the donation split, not the description.
- Apply through the clan page, or copy the tag and search it in the game.

Common questions
How can I tell if a clan is active before I join?
Look at four things: how many members donated this season, whether war attacks get used, how full the clan is, and when members were last seen playing. A clan with 50 members where only ten have donated is not an active clan, whatever its description says. ClashScout combines those into a single activity score so you do not have to check them one at a time.
What is a good activity score?
Above 60 means most of the roster is playing and donating. Above 80 is a clan where nearly everyone is active and war attacks rarely go unused. Below 30 usually means a clan that is still full of accounts but has stopped playing together.
Why does in-game clan search not show activity?
Clash of Clans search ranks clans by trophies, level and required trophies. None of those change when a clan stops playing, so a dead clan with a high level and 45 members looks identical to a busy one. That is the gap a clan finder fills.
Is ClashScout free to use?

How often is the data updated?
